Last night our very own Jared Siirila won the STEM Volunteer of the Year award from the annual STEMmy Awards hosted by STEM RTP. Jared has worked as a front-end developer for IBM and Lenovo, and currently works for EBSCO in the NoveList division, developing software for public libraries.
Jared is our longest-serving volunteer instructor and teaches JavaScript and React classes. Over the last three years, he has given over 500 hours of his time, and our students have appreciated every minute of it.
In nominating Jared, students commented on his humor, noted his gift for teaching, and expressed how grateful they were for his commitment. As one student said, “Jared has sacrificed so much of his personal time to help others; it is truly amazing.”
Thank you Jared, and to all the volunteers that help make Code the Dream possible. We are proud and grateful to have you as part of the Code the Dream team!
